Charities

During each academic year, we support many different charities at Brooklands.

Our main charity is the Asfaw Hawariat school in Ethiopia. This school cares for poor and orphaned children and was founded by Asfaw. Each week, we bring our loose change to assembly and save it in the Asfaw jar. We also hold special events such as non-uniform days to raise some extra money.

Last year we raised £2000 for the Asra Hawariat school. Rev. Kinnehan comes into school each year to tell us more about Asfaw and his pupils and he takes our money out to Ethiopia.

The Infant Christmas plays raise money for charities such as Cystic Fibrosis fund and the Northern Ireland Children's hospice. We also raise money for the hospice by selling badges each Christmas.

At Christmas, we like to post cards to our friends in school and we sell special stamps which raise money for the Cedar Foundation.
The Action Cancer "Wally and Wise" roadshow visited school recently as part of our healthy eating programme. To thank them for their visit, we presented them with a cheque for £350.
